A man with electric heel, SV Sunil is embodiment of vintage Asian stuff what with speed, ball control and effective inside the circle. The lad from Karnataka has just completed 200th cap during the second match of ongoing Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, 2017.
He is gold medallist at Asia Cup and Asian Games and silver at the Champions Trophy.
Sunil surprised Pakistan in the 2012 Azlan Shah Cup with an electrifying goal in the dying minutes to give India a memorable win.
Sunil was the cynosure of all eyes at Randburg Champions Challenge I with his sprints and solos. Fittingly he scored two goals in India routing the hosts South Africa 7-4.
in 2011 tour of Australia, in an a one2one situation with NZ goalkeeper, SV Sunil scored the tournament's beautiful goal in Western Australia. Sunil's return to mainstream is good sign, as he was nurturing an injury for long time.
He injured in the run up to the 2010 World Cup. With patience, he continued in the rehabilitation program for long thanks to physio Iyengar.
Hardly does one find such a brave heart in sports as he is. Despite his father's death, he did not miss the Azlan Shah Cup duty in 2010, returned with gold.
SV Sunil is a talented forward. Blessed with an athletic body, the Coorg (a popular hockey region in Karnataka) player sets up goals for others, besides also scoring when on opportune moments.
He got his first Sr. cap in Chennai Asia Cup 2007, which India won. He also won a Silver at the 2008 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia.
SV Sunil played for Service and Karnataka, and for Bangalore Hi-Fliers in the PHL. Now, he stars for JPW in HIL and is with Canara Bank.
