India won its only hockey world cup at Kuala Lumpur way back in 1975. The team had wonderful 16 players. It was led by the ebullient midfielder Ajit Pal Singh.

Out of the golden team three heroes are no more

First to leave for the heavenly abode is Gwalior’s Shivaji Pawar, the stylist centre-forward of the epochal outfit.

Next was Surjit Singh from Jalandhar. The fearsome defender met with an road accident and died on the spot.

Very recently in this year, Michael Kindo, another full back of the KL team expired due to old age complications.

On the occasion of the 46th Anniversary of the Kuala Lumpur World Cup success, we  rememBer those heroes with teary eyes.

The fourth one, Mohinder Singh is also no more; we have lost him to social evil about which later.

After winning Bronze and silver at the first two World Cup Hockey tournaments held in Barcelona and Amsterdam respectively, Indian men’s field hockey team took part in the 3rd World Cup hockey held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
