A livewire forward with a nose for goals, Florian Fuchs has been a mainstay for Germany for more than 12 years. He made his senior international debut in 2009 at the age of 17 and has since then traumatized defences all over the world.

Fuchs won an Olympic gold medal at London 2012 and picked up a bronze at Rio four years later. Now, the question that arises in the mind of the hockey connoisseur’s is whether he will get one more? Only time will tell.

He also possesses two Euro gold medals won at home in Moenchengladbach 2011 and Boom (Belgium) 2013.

Fuchs represented Ulenhorster HC in Hamburg when only 16, scoring in his first European League match and served notice on the impact he would have on the game.

He joined Bloemendaal after the 2016 Rio Olympics and helped them win the Dutch championship final in 2018-19.

He was an automatic choice for the German team that won the 2009 Junior World Cup in Johor Bahru-Singapore and was duly selected to the 2010 New Delhi World Cup senior squad.

Fuchs collected a silver medal with Germany at the World Cup and after the London Olympic success, struck gold again as Germany won the 2014 Champions Trophy title in Bhubaneswar in India.

Fuchs, who took to the game at five years of age, was voted 2012 FIH Rising Star. In 2015, he decided to participate in the Hockey India League and fetched a then record $96,000 when picked by Dabang Mumbai at the auction.

Fuchs has scored over 110 goals from just over 230 international matches and is expected to be a central figure in Germany’s quest for a fifth Olympic gold medal in Tokyo.

Fuchs is also a regular player for various Hockey India League franchises.
