A flurry of goals in the Nehru-SAIL Champion Colleges Cup on Day 3

Day three of the Nehru –SAIL Champion Colleges saw a flurry of goals with colleges from Sonipet, Jamia, Khalsa college from Ludhina emerged winners.

The first match was deceptive in the sense the half time score of 3-1 in favour of CRA College Sonepat appeared delusive as its rival Porwal Cxollege of Nagpur caved in the second half.

The losing team, Pachiappa Collges, Madras, struck its lone goal in the second half, which is also the last goal of the match which witnessed five goals. Municipal College, Rourkela, pumped in first four goals to move up in the points table in pool A.

Local outfit Jamia Milia Islamia had no difficulty in disposing off St. Xaviers’ college Kolkata in pool D. Its second loss for the Kolkata out fit. Neeraj from Jamia featured dominantly in his teams comprehensive 5-0 win, though at half time the winners led by an single goal.

Now on the fourth and last encounter of the day, Annamalai University from Chidambaran in Tamil Nadu despite holding 1-2 half time came down heavily after change over. GHG Khals College, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana, pumped in two more in the second half to walk away with a 4-2 win.
