Author: K Arumugam is a recognized hockey chronicler and historian of Indian hockey. He regularly contributes articles and columns for leading newspapers and magazines. Over the time, he has gathered a rare collection of hokey literature and images. His passion for facts and figures finds adequate expression in the form of book. He has so far authored 7 Hockey Year Books, two biographies of Indian star players – Nation’s Pride Dhanraj Pillay and Olympian Dilip Tirkey; co-authored ‘Great Indian Olympian’. His write up on Dhyan Chand from ‘Great Indian Olympians’, was in the 11th standard text books (CBSC Syllabus between 2002 – 1008).
K. Arumugam also owns and edits widely popular www.stick2hockey.com. This site is in the Limca Book of Record for being the first Indian site to bring Live Text Commentary of India’s International hockey matches.
Arumugam passionately followed women hockey, and was also an activist, contributing to the collective success of women hockey. He pours 20 years of interaction with hockey girls and hockey administration in the book.
Arumugam completed studies at Presidency College, Chennai and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Served in a scientific department before taking volunteer retirement from service in the mid 2000s.
He has covered various international hockey tournaments spanning two decades.
Arumugam also founded a trust Hockey Citizen Group, which runs One Thousand Hockey Legs’ project in five cities including Delhi. This NGO seeks to introduce 500 school children into the game of hockey.
