Propelled by a fluent hat-trick by forward Subramani Arumugam, Army XI annexed the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Cup today at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.
It was indeed the Punjab and Sind Bank team that scored the first goal, but thereafter the Army XI played a superb hockey to win the title 4-2.
After PSB took the early lead, Arumugam wove past wonderfully, and was very opportunistic from the wings.
S. Arumugam plays for Ordnance Factory in Hyderabad, and has been in the senior camp early this year, but had to be rested due to an injury.
He has been playing for his side almost six years.
