A complete player replete with individual skills, visionary passing and crucially drag flicking which has brought him much of his 137 goals from 250 internationals for England and Great Britain. That’s Ashley Jackson for you!
Born on August 27, 1987, Jackson was adjudged FIH Young Player of the Year in 2009 much accruing from his efforts in the EuroHockey Championship title winning England campaign in Amstelveen, The Netherlands.
It was the first major win for England/ Great Britain since the 1988 Seoul Olympics and Jackson’s extra-time winner (2-1) against the Dutch in the semi-final and his brace against Germany in the final (5-3) were crucial.
For all that, Jackson who represents Old Georgians at home, decided to take a break from hockey and turned to the ice version of the sport after the 2016 Rio Olympics.
However, he returned to field hockey in 2019 and had a stint with HCG in the Netherlands.
Jackson also turned out for Ranchi Rays in the Hockey India League from 2015-2017.
