Baljit Singh explains reason behind Indian players demand

Injured goalkeeper baljit Singh throws new perspective into the ongoing tussle between players and the Hockey India.

“This revolt is based upon my injury I sustained recently in the Pune camp. I was in America undergoing treatment, thanks to government of India. One surgery was due when Hockey India officials called me to India. They said treatment in USA is expensive, and that they will get me treated in India. After coming here, I found the truth. None from Hockey India even called me or stood by their words. Nowadays, whatever the treatment I have been bearing treatment expenditure on my own”.

Baljit Singh argues that this type of casual and carelss attitude of Hockey India people affected the psyche of players, who saw everything from their own eyes.

“Current players thought if the same happened to them, what is their future? I totally support their stand. Hockey administrators are, I feel with my own experience, is not taking care of players.”

Baljit also says they have to spend money from their pocket during the camps to live a reasonably good life there.

“During the Pune camp in which I was injured, the food given to us was of the lowest quality. We requested the officials many times asking for good food, all fell in duff years. They would not bother.

I was room mate of Deepak Thakur, both spent at least 15000 each per month for our food. Outside world does not know this.

I feel they treat us like this in camps and then invoke patriotism. This is not done.
