SAI SOUTH ZONE INTER-HOSTEL TOURNAMENT

Bangalore: Sports Authority of India Training Centre (STC), Bangalore, stormed into the final of the SAI south zone inter-hostel hock ey tournament with a convincing 4-1 win over STC Kollam here on Thursday.

Deepak Bijwad opened the account for Bangalore in the eighth minute through a penalty corner while Somanna C K doubled the tally in the 13th minute.

A minute before the breather, Ramesh H T (29th) made it a handy 3-0 lead going into the break. Bangalore went further ahead in the 47th minute through Aiyappa M B. Vineeth Manual struck the consolatory goal for Kollam in the 55th minute.

In the other semifinal, STC Secunderabad edged out STC Chennai 3-2. Sandeep Raju S put Secunderabad ahead with an early sixth minute strike.

But Chennai struck back with two goals in seven minutes to take the lead when Maria Stalin J (39th) and Vinod Rayer V (46th) got into the scoring act.

But in the next minute, Sandeep Raju S completed his brace to restore parity for Secunderabad while Sampath Kumar converted a penalty stroke (50th) to clinch the issue. Bangalore will meet Secunderabad in the final on Saturday.
