Bangalore: Riding on Maria Stalin’s brace, STC Chennai outclassed STC Thrissur 4-0 in the South Zone Sports Authority of India (SAI) inter-hostel hockey tournament at the KSHA Stadium here on Tuesday.
The Chennai outfit dominated the show from the word go. They translated their dominance into a goal in the seventh minute, Vinod RV making no mistake with his strike.
Stalin then took over, converting a penalty corner in the 21st minute to put the Chennai team 2-0 up. After change of ends, Stalin swelled the tally in the 35th minute. Vinoth Kumar completed Thrissur’s poor day in the office with a strike in the 44th minute.
In another encounter, STC Kollam scored a hard-fought 2-1 win over STC Pondicherry. Interestingly, it was Pondicherry who drew first blood. Sakthivel put them ahead in the 14th minute. Vishnuraj struck two minutes after the lemon break and scored the match-winner as well three minutes before the hooter.
