Bangalore: Bishop Cotton Boys’ School stormed into the final of the St Joseph’s Boys’ High School Centenary hockey tournament for seniors with a 3-0 victory over Sarla Birla Academy here on Thursday.

Bishop Cotton now await the winners of the second semifinal on Friday between St Germain High School and St Joseph’s Boys’ High School for the final showdown slated on Saturday.

Cottonians wrested the initiative against SBA when the match was just three minutes old as Abhishek Kumar found the target. However, that was the only goal in the first half of the match.

Six minutes into the second half, Akhil Muthanna (36th) doubled the tally for the Cottonians while Shivsanketh rounded off the scoring in the 47th minute.

In the Fr Eric Vaz Memorial tournament for juniors, Baldwin Boys’ High School routed Frank Anthony Public School 6-0 to book a berth in the final. In a lop-sided semifinal, Saif Warsi started off the scoring in the fourth minute. Then, previous match hero Kanju Jam netted a 28th-minute goal to make it 2-0.

In the second session, Kanju again was in the thick of action by notching his second goal of the day (46th). Kannet then took the wind out of FAPS’ sails with a quick brace (50th, 53rd) to power his team to a commanding lead with just seven minutes away from the final hooter.

However, Kanju added one more to his already swollen tournament kitty with a 55thminute goal to compound FAPS’ misery.

Baldwin will meet the winners of the second semifinal on Friday between St Joseph’s BHS and Sarla Birla Academy.
