Canada to Host Team India at Tamanawis Field
Field Hockey Canada and the Indian Hockey Confederation are happy to announce a 5-match Test Series featuring the Canadian National Women’s field hockey team versus Team India. The Series will take place in late May 2009 at Tamanawis Field in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
“We’re looking forward to playing against a very formidable opponent,” says Canadian head coach Louis Mendonca. “I am hopeful this event will be the beginning of a good hockey relationship between the two countries.”
Both nations are preparing for the upcoming Champions Challenge II this June in Kazan, Russia. India and Canada are currently ranked 14th and 19th in the world respectively by the International Hockey Federation.
The tentative schedule of matches includes India facing Canada “A” on May 26th and May 27th. The official Test Series between India and the Canadian National Team will take place May 29th – 31st, June 2nd, and June 4th.
Fans are encouraged to come out and witness some world class hockey. Information on volunteer and sponsorship opportunities will be announced as it becomes available.
