Central Railways & BEG “B”, both win 4-2

Thursday, November 05, 2009: Central Railway upstaged Indian Navy in the MHA Super league Hockey Tournament and BEG ‘B” stunned Central Railway Mumbai Division in the Senior Division League match played at the MHA Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate.

Central Railway overwhelmed Indian Navy by 4-2 margin after being ahead by 2-1 score at breather. In the game Navy tried to dominate by attacking straight away while Central Rly kept their cool and gradually worked up front that paid off as C.Rly went into initial lead in the very 5th minutes. Shashi Topno deflected in to the cage from the pass by Deepak Lakra inside the circle 1-0. Energetic Navy equalized in the 7th minutes later Shish Ram converted indirect penalty corner 1-1. Thereafter both sides reason best known to themselves failed to get any success, battled at the midfield most of the times, after the much initial hype. However C.Rly shot into lead once again breaking the deadlock Nilesh Mane converted a penalty corner directly in the 33rd minutes 2-1. After recess time Central Rly continued their earlier half display added the 2nd goal immediately Navneet Swarnakar converted a indirect penalty corner( 3-1) in the 39th minutes on the other hand Navy seemed to have lost way failed to reconstruct their earlier half performance. C.Rly came up with gunblazing efforts Ajaz Quresh’s rasping shot from the ‘D’ top struck the left bar and came back into the play, the railmen piled pressure on the Navy defence every now & then keeping their defenders and keeper on toes. Frustrated Navy men even changed their goalkeeper replacing their regular with substitute however Navy earned a “ stroke” which their defender Amrit Kiro missed out for them further woes meantime C.Rly missed out lost of chances their strikers tumbled at the shot against the run of play navy dramatically pulled a goal back in the 63rd minutes. Ajay Kumar scores from close quarters 2-3. Navy’s 2 players received yellow cards for rough tackle on C.Rly strikers ( 65th minutes ) navy were down to 9 men’s . Central Rly further added the 4th goal through a well deserves “stroke’ conversion by Avesh Ansari in the 69th minutes 4-2. C.Rly harned 17 points from 9 matches played so far and Navy have accumulated 11 points from 7 matches.

In the Senior Division match BEG ‘B’ shocked Central Rly.Mumbai Division by 4-2 margin at lemon break both the sides were at level terms ( 2-2). C.Rly.M’bai Div. were leading by a brace of goals at one stage of the play time. Sudhir Kumar and Sameer Jada were the goal scorers. However thereafter BEG ‘B’ the energetic side dominated the proceedings as they not only nullified the goals but went on to win the tie with handsome margin scorers. Sem Kandulna ( 2 goals ), Jaktar S & Ashish K scored a goal each.
