Chandigarh: BUSH Academy clinch a thriller

Chandigarh: Baba Uttam Singh Hockey (BUSH) Academy of Khadoor Sahib snatched two points from Malwa Khalsa School (MKS) Hockey Academy with a hardfought 1-0 victory in the four-team round robin league match of the 7th SN Vohra Memorial Sub-Junior Under-14 hockey tournament being conducted by Rock Rovers Club at Sector 42 Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.

After a barren first half session, Bush Academy got their all-important goal through Gurpreet Singh, who converted a penalty corner in the 52nd minute.

Khadoor Sahib Academy had a slight edge over their rivals as they forced seven-penalty corners but could take advantage of only one. Malwa Khalsa School Academy forced a lone penalty corner, which they failed to convert.

The second match between DAV School Academy, Sector 8 and Jarkhar Academy of Ludhiana ended in a two-all draw. Jarkhar Hockey Academy which were awarded three penalty corners, shot into the lead in the 15 minute through Gurpreet Singh who converted a penalty corner.

DAV Academy restored parity in the 27th minute when Ramandeep Singh converted penalty corner. In a seesaw battle Jarkhar Academy again went up as Shaminder Singh scored a fine field goal in the 30th minute.

DAV Academy then went all out and forced another penalty corner in the 37th minute, which Harsimranjeet Singh converted it. With this draw, the teams split points.
