Chandigarh: BUSH, MKS set up summit clash

Chandigarh: Strong contenders Baba Uttam Singh Hockey (BUSH) Academy, Khadoor Sahib, and Malwa Khalsa School (MKS) Academy, Ludhiana, entered the final of the 7th SN Vohra Memorial Sub-Junior (U-14) Hockey Tournament, being organised by Rock Rovers Club at Sector 42 Hockey Stadium on Friday. The final will be played on Saturday.

BUSH won all their league matches. In their last match, BUSH routed Jarkhar Hockey Academy, Ludhiana, 3-0. In the 15th minute Varun Kumar scored a field goal to put his team 1-0 up. BUSH maintained pressure and four minutes later Amandeep Singh doubled the score.

Jarkhar conceded the third goal in the 20th minute when Varun Kumar converted a penalty corner. In the second league match of the day, MKS beat DAV Senior Secondary School Academy, Sector 8, 3-TOI 0.

MKS forced a penalty corner in the 35th minute and Nirmaljeet Singh converted it with ease. Fifteen minutes later, MKS earned another penalty corner and Navdeep Singh converted to make it 2-0. It was Parminder Singh who completed the tally by scoring a field goal in the 52nd minute. MKS finished their league outing with two wins and one defeat. The final is expected to be a thrilling affair, as MKS would try to gain revenge as they were beaten 0-1 by BUSH in a league match.
