CHA, HHA to clash in inaugural tie

THE CHANDIGARH Hockey Academy will take on Hyderabad Hockey Academy in a group B fixture of the inaugural Administrator’s Challenge Cup Hockey Tournament at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium, Chandigarh, on Thursday .

Realising the fixtures, Chandigarh Sports Director Inderjit Singh Sandhu said that Punjab Governor and Administrator Union Territory , SP Rodrigues would be the chief guest and inaugurate the tournament.

In other matches scheduled to be played, Sandhu said that Surjit Hockey Academy of Jalandhar would face Hockey Academy of Gurgaon at 5.15 p.m. and later Punjab and National Bank Hockey Academy of Delhi are slated to challenge Sector 42 Sports Coaching Centre. Two matches will be played under lights.

The league-cum-knockout tournament to be played under the rules and regulations of the Indian Hockey Confederation will carry cash awards of Rs 50,000 for the winners and Rs 25,000 for runners-up.

Teams: Pool A: Surjit Academy Jalandhar, Hockey Academy Gurgaon, Sukhchain Hockey Academy Faridkot, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Academy Amritsar. Pool B: Chandigarh Hockey Academy, Hyderbad Hockey Academy, Cheema Hockey Academy Batala, Kurukshetra SAI Academy. Pool C: PNB Hockey Academy Delhi, Chandigarh Sports Deptt Coaching Centre, Punjab and Sind Bank Academy Jalandhar, Mehta Gurukul Hockey Academy Doraha. Pool D: Rail Coach Factory Kurukshetra, Hockey Academy Luc know and Amritsar XI.
