Hockey meet: BUSH, MKS declared joint winners

Chandigarh: BUSH Academy, Khadoor Sahib and Malwa Khalsa School (MKS), Ludhiana, were declared joint winners of the 7th SN Vohra Memorial Sub-junior (U-14) Hockey Tournament after both teams played out a draw in the final, played at the Sector 42 hockey stadium on Saturday.

BUSH was the more aggressive of the two teams and came close to scoring on many occasions but luck eluded them.

They won seven penalty corners, including three in the last ten minutes, but failed to convert even one into a goal.

Malwa were awarded only one penalty corner.

Both teams were given Rs 7500 as cash prize. DAV Academy, Chandigarh, won the fair play award.

Rajat of BUSH was declared the best forward while the other awardees were: Best half back: Harmanpreet (Malwa); Best full back: Varun Kumar (BUSH); Best goalkeeper: Lovepreet Singh (Malwa). All the winners were given Rs 500 and a memento.

Master Mohan Lal, transport minister, Punjab, gave away the prizes.
