Mumbai based City Limousine, who are already a big hit with the Indian women team, will be sponsoring various age group boys teams now. One of the salient features of the deal between the Dubai-headquartered MNC and the Indian Hockey Federation is provision of monthly stipend to selected players. It is learnt that about 50 under-18 boys are being selected, based on input from various state units, and these boys will be given an Academy like environ to hone their skills. This facility might come up in Pune or in some other city where synthetic turf will be available to the boys round the year.
City Limousine is the official sponsor of Indian women team. Their is a novel sponsorship scheme, by which about 50% of the total sponsorship amount will directly be given to the women hockey players. This scheme, very much welcomed and liked by the players and coaches, is unique in the world of hockey, as for the first time the sponsorship was player- specific and thus the players get monthly allowance, besides their salary from the employers.
