Clean Sports India Welcomes the Arrest of Indian Olympic Association President
Cleans Sports India (CSI) welcomes the arrest of Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, for the corruption charges in holding Delhi
Commonwealth Games 2010. Olympian Pargat Singh, the President of CSI, said that though it is late but better late than
never!
CSI looks at this development as an opportunity to kick start the reforms of Indian Sports Federations as Mr. Kalmadi
was stumbling block for any reforms. Mrs. Ashwani Nachappa said that she will back the Sports Minister on his plan to
bring the sports legislation to restrict the terms and age of office bearers of sports federations.
Mr. B.V.P.Rao and Mrs.Reeth Abraham, Convener and Joint Convener of CSI, said that Kalmadi was the symbol of corruption in sports for over quarter century.
Rao said that this arrest is a historic mile stone in the sports administration of the Country. He thinks the coming days would not be attractive to politicians to take over sports bodies with the bad publicity of Kalmadi’s arrest.
Hence,
sports persons should take this opportunity to send politicians back home.
CSI is a civil society movement which encourages former sport persons to challenge the existing corrupt sports order and come forward to join the management of the sports bodies.
