Come late December or early January, Chandigarh witnesses former hockey players doing something for hockey. Sukhbir Singh Gill, city’s former Olympian, comes in front at the Organizing Secretary of the Dharam Singh Memorial Cup.
Dharam Singh was a former defender of yore, and a tournament, six-a-side, is a fitting tribute for the departed soul.
The tournament started ten years ago, has come of age, with better organization and more crowds at the stands.
This year the prize money has been hugely increased, to the level of Rs. One Lakh.
Today’s result (tomorrow is the final).
