BSF wins All-India Police Hockey Championship
The BSF team retains top position at the All-India Police Hockey Championship. The tournament ended on Saturday at the astro-turf stadium with the glorious victory of the BSF team.
Chief Minister Arjun Munda awarded the Haryana police team as the second runner up team. Jharkhand has hosted the prestigious week long 60th All India Police Hockey Championship for the first time.
Jharkhand DGP Gauri Shankar Rath said, “People from outside of the State have a misconception about the State security because of the red extremism. But this event will generate a positive picture of the place.”
The mega sports event was registered by 23 teams with nearly 600 players from different States, central police organisations and Union Territories displaying, a professional unity. The event was held under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board, the apex sports body for central police outfits.
The BSF team is the last time champion and the first match was played by Jharkhand and Uttarakhand teams. League-cum-knockout format was followed in the event. The teams have been divided in eight groups.
