Didn’t play our ‘A’ game: Sardar

With less than three months to go for the Olympics, Indian hockey players are bracing themselves for their ‘most important 80 days ahead.’ “What is relevant to us right now is our performance at the (Olympics) test event in London last week,” drag-flick ace Sandeep Singh said at an event.
The team is insisting it didn’t reveal its cards in the recent test event in London. Sandeep himself was sparingly used there.
While it is said he wasn’t utilised by coach Michael Nobbs because of his defensive fragility, Sardar Singh said, “We didn’t want to show all our cards here. We haven’t played our ‘A’ game in London. Plus, defending on that turf wasn’t easy. Since it was slow and bumpy, no team could play a defensive game because a mistake inside the ‘D’ was unavoidable.”
