The morning session of the ongoing Commonwealth Games’ Day Six brought a lot of cheers for England. On the main pitch England men defeated New Zealand 5-3, after a tough halftime score of 3-2.
An hour later on the other pitch, English women overcame Malaysia somewhat sluggishly with a 3-0 victory. Nicola White, Alex Danson and Georgie Twigg scored a goal apiece.
For the men, in the seventh minute James Tindall posted a goal to break the deadlock and then goals are there for asking at regular interval.
Two minutes later captain Phil Burrow equalized only to see again Tindal comes up with another in the 23rd minute.
Seven minutes later Richard Mantel converted a penalty corner to bring the score 3-1, but a minute before the half time, Hayden Shaw repeated a Richard Mantel.
They left for the lemon time with a fighting score of 3-2 in favour of England.
The complexion of the game changed when 13 minutes into the second half Rob Brogdon converted a penalty corner, and five minutes before full time, James Tindal came up with one more.
In between, Hayden Shaw made his mark on the scoreboard again in the 53rd minute, and it was all the Kiwis could do in the remainder of the time as well.
