Ex skipper supports hockey as national game
Miffed with former India
captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi’s suggestion that cricket should be made the national game, ex hockey skipper
Jude Felix extended support for his game.
“I don’t know how that’s going to help. Cricket, no doubt, has overtaken all sports in the country. Hockey, however, was identified as India’s national game because it brought laurels to the country and the game is played all over the world,” Felix said.
Pataudi recently said that it is time to make cricket India’s national game given the Indian team’s performance.
“It’s time that we make it (cricket) our national game and take that away from hockey. There is no doubt in my mind that this is probably the best team India has produced in a long time especially in home conditions,” Pataudi had said.
