Fighter Karnatka makes it 2-1 in 6-match Series

Monday, January 25, 2010: Karnataka roared back in the 6 match series of M.P.Ganesh & Balbir Singh Grewal Trophy home & away series. 3 matches were to be played at Mumbai and 3 matches at Coorg, today’s being the last outing 3rd at Mumbai. Host Mumbai have won 2 matches, however today it was not host Mumbai’s day visitors Karnataka dominated from the word ‘go’ keeping Mumbai strikers intact checked by their mid fielders and defenders Karnataka’s strikers Poonacha and Biju combing well from the 25 yards while the later hitting Just wide of the target 3rd minutes, 10 minutes later Mumbai keeper Abhijit Kadam superb save a cross by Biju to well stationed Poonacha at the spot Kadam deny by palming away timely. Karnataka persistent attack bore results Nitin Thimmaiah ‘D’ top crisp shot from the left went in off Mumbai keeper’s pad ( 34th minutes ) 1-0.

After breather time Karnataka stunned Mumbai firing two goals back to back in space of 4 minutes. There after the stunged Mumbai going all out earning a stroke 53rd minutes. Sandeep Singh converting with ease ( 1-3 ) Mumbai piling up pressure on Karnataka citadel but not getting the desire results . However in the dead end ie. 64th minutes Niyas Rahim push from the ‘D’top squeezed past the confused Karnataka keeper Jagdeep who had a outstanding display otherwise in this tie.

Freunds Sports Club recorded their 2nd consecutive superb win in the MHA womens League played at the MHA Stadium today they outclass Hand XI by a thumping margin of 8-0 after being ahead by 5-0 score during breather time.

Freunds s/c did not face much opposition from Hand XI whatsoever, however in the second session of play Hand XI showed some respite allowing only 3 goals to Freunds S/c strikers to score. Bhagyashree fired four goals while Elena Shams scored a brace, Meenakshi and Archana Singh chipped in one each to round up the tally for Freunds S/C.

MSSA Inter School Hockey Tournament 2010

Our Lady of Dolours H.S ( Marine Lines ) crowned themselves for the 3rd in a row Boys under 16 years title MSSA Inter School Knock-out Hockey Tournament played at the MHA Stadium.

Our Lady of Dolours H.S over came their counterparts Children’s Academy ( Malad ) by 2-0 score both goals scored by their star striker Anup Walmiki’s penalty conversion direct ( 11th minutes ) & 46th minutes field goal scoring in each half of play time. ( 2-0 )

In an another MSSA boys under 14 years final contest Don Bosco ( Matunga ) edged out St.Anne’s H.S ( Malad ) via tie-breaker ( 5-4 ) in a thrilling tie, as both sides were at level terms of ( 2-2 ) at regulation time. By virtue of tie-breaker win Don Bosco H.S won the tile ( 5-4 )

In an Girls under 16 years finals , in all Durello Convent H.S ( Bandra ) after A & B . Durello ‘B’ won narrow over Durello ‘A’ by 2-1 score. Jemima Monteiro & Ruqqaiya Sheikh scored for the winners and Bhagyashree reduced the margin for the losers.
