The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has partnered with Cricket Plus channel in a six-figure deal to broadcast live and delayed broadcast of FIH major events, and the ABN AMRO World Hockey monthly magazine program in USA and Canada.

Cricket Plus will make broadcast selected matches including the finals of all major televised FIH events over the next 3 years. Launched in late 2006, Cricket Plus broadcasts ICC cricket events as well as cricket from the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Zimbabwe, and is available to over 16 million homes on the DirecTV platform.

Els van Breda Vriesman, FIH President, commented, “Hockey is very popular to many thousands of female college students in USA and also Canada’s men’s team has recently qualified for the Olympic Games. Hence, we’re delighted to make international hockey available on TV to hockey fans in those countries on a long-term basis.”
