St. Anthony’s High School, Monte de Guirim, stunned Damodar Higher Secondary School, Gudi Paroda, 2-1 via the tiebreaker in the final of the Nehru Cup u-17 boys hockey at Peddem, Mapusa on Saturday.
With this win, St. Anthony’s earned a place to represent Goa in the national tournament to be held in Delhi.
In an exciting final, the teams were locked 1-1 till the end of regulation time. In the tie breaker, goalkeeper Jesus’ excellence helped Guirim seal it. The goalkeeper blocked all the shots while Guirim managed to sneak in a goal to book their ticket to Delhi.
