Four-layer security at the Dhyanchand Stadium

The Delhi Police has strengthened security at Le Meridien hotel in central Delhi where most of the hockey teams are staying.
On Monday, a bus carrying members of the Pakistani team arrived here. The bus was flagged off from the Wagah border in Punjab.

Armed guards and commandos have been deployed on the rooftop of the hotel.
Police said they are not allowing any unauthorised vehicle to enter the hotel premises.
“The hotel is equipped with X-ray scanners and doorframe metal detectors. We have asked the hotel authorities to frisk all the visitors entering the hotel,” said a senior police officer.

Police said the 12 participating countries would be visiting the venue — Major Dhyanchand National Stadium, for practice sessions from Tuesday.

“The stadium has four layers of security around it. “We are conducting anti-sabotage and anti-explosives tests almost every hour at the stadium,” said the officer.

Police said they have cordoned off the area around the stadium and are keeping a strict vigil on the movement of vehicles and people.
