Mamata HS win hockey tournament
Mamata High School won the fifth Vemparala Purushotham Memorial Inter-school hockey tournament defeating Hyderabad Public School (Begumpet) 3-2 in the final at the Gymkhana on Tuesday. Mamata HS took the lead in the 25th minute through right-in K Rajath. HPS equalized through right-half B Akhil as the teams went into the break deadlocked. Right-in M Vinod Kumar put HPS ahead in the 41st minute but their joy was shortlived as Rajath made it 2-2. It was left to left-in JE Sai Kiran to settle the issue in favour of Mamata HS. Hockey sticks were presented to players of either finalist and the four special awardees. Pullela Gopi Chand and Edward Alloysius gave away the winners and runners-up prizes, respectively.
