IE Services fire 28 past Goa: Namdhari XI make it 2 out of 2

Services Sports Control Board fired 28 goals to ground Goans Hockey in their league engagement at the third Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship. The event is being hosted at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex and the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey stadium.

In a group C encounter, Services Sports Control Board’s Sanwar Ali smashed seven goals, the highest by an individual so far in the event. Ali scored in the 22nd, 31st, 33rd, 51st, 52nd, 53rd and 56th minutes. AP Siraju helped himself to six goals scoring in the 7th, 13th, 25th, 26th, 32nd and 61st minutes. Lovepreet Singh scored four goals, sounding the board in the 29th, 34th, 38th and the 49th minutes. Ved Prakash scored three while Igance Tirkey, K Hera Singh and S Arumugam scored a couple each. Rajesh Kumar and Johnny Jasrotia scored a goal each for the Services team ran amok.

In a group F match, Namdhari XI notched up an 8-2 win over Sashastra Seema Bal. This victory was Namdhari XI’s second on the trot. Grupreet Singh hammered five goals in the 26th, 54th, 60th, 66th and 68th minutes.

In a group B game, Chhattisgarh Hockey scored a 7-3 win over Hockey Tripura. Pareek Ravi and Ajajus Salam recorded a brace each while Sushil Kumar, Rajesh Nirmalkar and Jahangir Khan scored one goal each Chhattisgarh Hockey .

Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu was held to a 2-2 draw with Chandigarh Olympic Association in a group H tie while Hockey Haryana brushed past Uttar Pradesh Hockey in group D, recording a 6-2 victory.

Hockey Assam thrashed Hockey Rajasthan 10-0 in a one-sided group H game with Pawan Malik in prime form. The Assamese attacker scored six goals. Malik recorded his goals in the 7th, 14th, 24th, 29th, 33rd and 41st minutes.

Sports Authority of India, a team with the majority of junior players outsmarted Hockey Bihar 9-0 in group C.

In group E, Hockey Odisha scored a 5-1 win over Bengal Hockey Association.
