India lose 1-2 to Spain in Second Test

8 July 2012:India went down fighting 1-2 to host Spain in the second test played at La Albericia in the capital city of the Cantabria late on Saturday.

Sandeep Singh (Penalty corner 28th minute) scored the solitary goal for India, while Spain registered goals through Pau Quemada (34th minute) and Santi Freixa (Penalty corner 69th minute).

India began well and took lead in the 28th minute with the penalty corner successfully converted by drag flicker Sandeep Singh. Spain equalised in 34th minute through a field goal scored by Pau Quemada. Skipper Santi Freixa consolidated Spain’s position scoring a field goal in 69th minute.

This game also marked 250 international caps for senior player of the team, Ignace Tirkey.

Later today India play their next game against South Africa.
