India needs to install blue turf’, Sandeep Singh
Star Indian player Sandeep Singh says that India should strive to acquire blue turf, as it is the turf for future tournaments.
“Next year’s Olympics is going to be held on blue turf. India should not delay in acquiring blue turf. If blue turf is installed it will go a long way for the players. Our players will acquaint with it and performance will not have effect of this new brand”, the defender said.
Sandeep Singh is in Bhopal playing for his state team, Haryana.
“Blue turf is already there in Spain, and will be the turf for the London Olympics. It is probably increasing in numbers across many hockey playing countries We have many turfs in India, a few of them could be of this new kind”, he added.
Insisting the fact that colour of the turf should not make much difference but if that colour is going to be the future, it is better to acquire and it will allow players get used to it, and settle for the turf.
“In fact if one regularly plays under floodlight, feels slightly unsettled if he has to play on the day light. Certainly it needs adjustment. Same is applied here also. Getting used to particular colour of the turf will matter”, he seeks to justify his opinion.
While letting us know that he did not yet get an opportunity to play on the blue turf, he feels India should not delay in fast emerging technical matters, and blue turf is one such.

Mr.editor- this is my humble request to you please stop writing star player for sandeep singh. I dont know what yuo find him to be addressed as star.it is the same sandeep singh who preffered the belgium/Holland league over the nationalteam. indeed, the practice on blue turf will help for teams playing in Olympics, but please ask him if we will qualify for Olympics? India is not that rich country who can change the turf every day. as per my knowledge of hockey Holland,australia, germany, pakistan etc. no one is pactising on blue turf. this will be a new excuse for them if at all we qualify for olympics.I have seen almost all the matches of sanddep singh played at Bhopal, he is playing worst then a school kid.please advice him to retire from active hockey and save the game.
