India thrashed France 6-0 in the second hockey Test at the French National Institute of Sports and Physical Education (INSEP) at Paris on Monday.

India who pipped the hosts 4-3 in the first Test totally dominated the proceedings with quality ball control and possession.

India led 1-0 at half time and came back with more firepower in the second session to decimate the French.

The star for India was the in form Sandeep Singh who scored three goals from penalty corners in the 12th, 37th and 47th minutes. The other scorers were captain Rajpal Singh (39th), Mohd. Amir Khan (55th) and Hari Prasad (58th min).

Sandeep put India ahead in the 12th minute from the first of four penalty corners when Tushar Khandker was obstructed by France defender Nicolas Monnier.

Both the teams missed two scoring opportunities in the first half as Khandker and Rajpal Singh shot wide for the Indians while Frederic Soyez and Olivier Sanchez fumbled for France.

Sandeep increased the lead in the 37th minute sinking one past France goalkeeper Matthias Dierckens after Gurbaj Singh, Ravi Pal and Dharamvir Singh had done the spadework.

Two minutes later an unmarked Rajpal made it 3-0 after being set up by Vikas Pillay.

France’s misery did not end here as Sandeep shot home his third goal in the 47th minute after Hari Prasad was obstructed by skipper Francois Scheefer to make it 4-0.

Amir Khan scored India’s fifth goal in the 55th minute with a deft reverse deflection after combining in a swift counter attack with Bharat Chikara.

India rounded off their tally three minutes later when Hari Prasad struck the sixth goal as Khandker, Vikas Pillay and Danish Mujtaba broke through the French defence.

India have thus wrapped the three match series and will play the final Test here on Wednesday before leaving for Holland for the last leg of their European tour.
