The Indian Women Hockey Team was held to a 1 -1 draw by Canada in the second game of their four Test Match Series at Tamanawis Park, Surrey today.

It was a close game with the half time score being 0 – 0.

Captain Surinder Kaur scored for India from a penalty stroke in the 41st minute while Canada equalized in the 63rd minute through their skipper Stephanie Nesbitt.

India had a very strong start and earned four penalty corners in the first five minutes of play. They should have taken the lead from the fourth penalty corner when the Canadian goalkeeper Azelia Liu was beaten but defender Stephanie Jameson made a goal line save.

India earned three more penalty corners in the second half and were awarded a penalty stroke from the last one when Samantha Smith used her body to stop a deflection.

Surinder Kaur made no mistake as she easily beat Liu to give India the lead.

The Canadian equalizer came in the 63rd minute after Katie Baker made a great pass to her captain Nesbitt who was positioned in front of the Indian goalkeeper Deepika Murty and comfortably slotted home.

The two teams will play the third Test on Saturday at the same venue.
