We heard a lot about many Indian hockey players representing other countries, say in England, Malaysia, Canada, Kenya and others. We also knew some of them represented both India and their settled countries.

Ravi Agnihotri, who is spearheading Canadian attack here in the Azlan Shah Cup, joins the glorious list of India’s double international.

Ravi is contemporary of Gurbaj Singh (Indian right-half here in Ipoh) at the Jalandhar based Surjit Hockey Academy (1995-2001). Having learnt the rudimentaries of hockey at the famed Academy, Ravi was selected for India that won the inaugural Under -16 Asia Cup at Singapore in 2000. Ajay Kumar Bansal (New Delhi) and Narinder Pal Sigh (Hyderabad) were the coaches of the succesful team.

The talented right winger, a student of Lyllapur Khasa College in Jalandhar, moved to Canada last year when his parents migrated to Vancouver. He has already represented Canada in more than 25 matches, after making his international debut against visiting Scotland.
