Jamie Dwyer’s electrifying pace, breathtaking skills and boundless energy was a key factor in Australia’s dominance in recent times. No surprise that he has won a record FIVE FIH Player of the Year awards (2004, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011).
Fittingly, Dwyer’s golden goal brought the Kookaburras their first ever and long sought after Olympic gold medal at Athens 2004.
Dwyer’s international career spanned 15 years and 326 international matches during which he also won two World Cup gold medals (2010 New Delhi and 2014 The Hague).
He also possesses Olympic bronze medals (Beijing 2008 and London 2012) and World Cup silver (Kuala Lumpur 2002 and Moenchengladbach 2006).
Born in Rockhampton, Queensland, on March 12, 1979, Dwyer represented Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League before turning out for HC Bloemendaal in the Dutch premier division.
Dwyer also had a stint with Punjab Warriors in the Hockey India League.
