The Indian Women team was outplayed by Japan 3 – 0 in the first of the four test match series at the Gifu Green Stadium, Kakamigahara today.
After a blank first half Japan struck with an open goal from Aaki Yamada in the 55th minute before Shiho Sakai flicked in twice from penalty corners in the 61st and 69th minutes respectively.
Japan dominated the proceedings earning seven penalty corners in the match as against none by India.
The second Test will be played on Sunday at the same venue.
The Indians are touring Japan and China in preparation for the World Cup in Argentina followed by the Commonwealth Games at Delhi and the Asian Games at Guangzhou this year.
