Argentina and Ireland come in place of Australia and New Zealand at the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup in Potchefstroom, South Africa, from December 5-16, the world body announced on its website on Friday.

The Oceanic nations pulled off from the event in the wake of their governments’ Covid-19 induced quarantine and restrictions on travel that severely hampered training for international tournaments.

The FIH went by rankings of the senior teams to bring in the next best among those not qualified.

Argentina won the last edition of the Junior World Cup in 2016 in Chile.

Potchefstroom — situated about 120 km west-southwest of Johannesburg – will host 16 nations from all over the world in the Junior World Cup, the match scheduled of which would be communicated at a later stage.
