Forward, burly Katie Glynn proved to be a thorn in the flesh of the English, as she slammed the ball thrice in getting her side an resounding win

Katie scored in the 35th, 51st and 54th minutes to douse whatever fire the English ladies had in them to make a match of it.

The English started the match confidently scoring a goal in the 14th minute (Ashleigh Ball)before caving in to surging Kiwis.

In a match that saw three yellow cards flashed, two to the losing side, what marked the winner from the loser is the sharp shooting prowess of Glynn.

on her hattrick, Glynn said: “The first goal was a deflection. Then we created more opportunities. We did a lot of work on positioning, and am really glad to play my role in the team. This hattrick hleps me to build my confidence”.

Veteran Kayla Sharland too praised their outer circle. Our outer circle held position. We knew that th England side was tough. We had to stretch the ball and play hard”.

Lucy Tablot attributed her team’s success to not yielding penalty corners as the England team was strong on conversion.

They have a strong penalty corner, so we knew we could not be too lazy in our circle. We only gave up a few, so that always helps”, she said.
