THE FIRST match of the 9th All India Academies under-19 Hockey League, dedicated to Surjit Kaur will be played between Punjab and Sind Bank, Jalandhar and Moga on Tuesday at Mata Sahib Kaur Stadium, Jarkhar.
Stating this Jarkhar Sports Academy president Satinder Singh Gill said a total of 12 teams across the country will participate in the meet.
The first four matches of the league would be played on knock out basis whereas the other matches would be played on league basis between the teams divided into two groups.
Two top teams from each group would qualify for the semifinals. Defending champion Sangrur Academy, Delhi Academy, DAV Chandigarh and host Jarkhar Academy have been given direct entry in the championship and the remaining eight teams would play on knock out basis for qualifying the league.
The other teams participating in the championship include Punjab and Sind Bank Jalandhar, Dala Brothers Mehta, Lopo Academy Ludhiana, Sarinh Academy Jalandhar, Moga district team, Jagtar Eleven Jarkhar, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Academy Amritsar and Lasara Academy Nawanshehar.
