Matt Eyles Scientific Advisor of National Junior Men’s Team

New Delhi, 8 October 2013: Hockey India today announced the appointment of Mr. Matt Eyles as the Scientific Advisor to the Indian Junior Men National team. Mr. Matt Eyles aims to make the team physically and mentally fit looking ahead to the FIH Junior Men World Cup to be held in New Delhi from 6-15 December 2013.

Hockey India Secretary General Dr Narinder Batra said the appointment of Mr. Matt Eyles is an important step towards ensuring the proper fitness level of our national junior men team looking ahead FIH Junior Men World Cup 2013 and beyond. “Our Junior Men team has performed well at the recently concluded Sultan of Johar Cup so I am sure Mr. Eyles will play a key role in the physical and mental fitness of our players, as they prepare for the major tournament” Dr Batra said.

Mr. Matt Eyles who will be joining the Junior Men team very shortly said “I am looking forward to working with the Indian team, there is a lot of potential there, and together the coaching staff will bring that potential out in each athlete”

Before being appointed to the Indian Junior Men Hockey team, Matt Eyles has worked with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (Australian Professional Rugby League Club) for almost two years as Strength and Conditioning Coach. After completing his Human Movement Degree at the University of Technology Sydney, Matt began working in the Sports Science Unit at the Sydney Academy of Sport where he developed strength and conditioning programs that assisted athletes that are competing at a national and international level in sports such as swimming, surfing, rugby union and athletics.
