Great Britain coach Jason Lee derived some vicarious pleasure seeing the Indians shiver in the cold and go down 2-4 to his team in the four-nation hockey tournament to test the 2012 London Olympic facilities here yesterday.

Lee yesterday said that after experiencing the hot weather conditions in India when his team played in the 2010 World Cup and Commonwealth Games, he was amused to find the Indians struggle to cope with the chill in the Olympic Park air.

“We’ve been to some hot major tournaments like the CWG in Delhi and the World Cup there. So I’m giggling to myself seeing the Indians coming here and thinking it’s freezing, finding it as hard in comparison as we found it in India,” Lee was quoted as saying by BBC after their 4-2 victory against India.

“I’m praying for an unseasonably cold August. Hopefully we’ll have the coldest summer in history. My tip for acclimatization: Twenty-four hours in the fridge,” he said. India had lost 0-3 to Australia in the opener. It has been really a testing time for the Indian team as they are still struggling to get acclimatised to the cold, blustery conditions and adjust to the new blue synthetic turf. Britain, who lost their opener against Germany 1-2 in the four-nation tournament, looked a different side as Ashley Jackson scored twice.

World No 1 Australia were defeated 2-3 by Germany in the other match of the day. India Jrs thrash Lanka 11-0 Meanwhile, India thrashed Sri Lanka 11-0 in their opening match of the seventh Junior Men’s Asia Cup Hockey Tournament in Malacca (Malaysia) yesterday. Two time champions India scored through skipper Akashdeep Singh (3rd, 62nd), Amit Rohidas (penalty corner 6th), Satbir Singh (21st, 29th), Malak Singh (27th, 39th, 44th), PL Thimmanna (34th, 41st minute) and Prabhdeep Singh (67th).
