Hitting the bull’s eye, Ferozepur archers collected a total of 1146 points to emerge as the team champions in the Punjab State Rural Games for Girls (U16) at the Guru Nanak College on Tuesday. Jalandhar, with 724 points, finished as the runners-up with 724 points.
Running a planned race, Harpreet Kaur of Hoshiarpur won the 3000 metres race by clocking 10:47.30 seconds. Jyoti from Hoshiarpur ran in closely to Harpreet but still lagged behind by two seconds to finish at second with 10:49.40s.
Sharanjit of Gurdaspur timed 11:30.40s for bronze medal.
In the hockey quarterfinals Muktsar defeated Barnala by 2-0; Gurdaspur outplayed Amritsar by 5-0; hosts Moga crushed Ludhiana by 4-0 and Tarn Taran outclassed Sangrur by 3-0. In volleyball Ludhiana beat Sangrur by 25-23, 25-12 in the quarter-finals match. In other quarterfinal matches Muktsar defeated Barnala 25-17, 25-16, Moga outplayed Kapurthala by 25-7, 25-4 and Ropar outsed Jalandhar 25 20, 25-12 in straight sets.
