AI run riot over Navy 5-1

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

AIR-INDIA continued on their destructive run in the Mumbai Hockey Association (MHA) super league by delivering a crushing 5-1 defeat to whipping boys of the season Indian Navy at the MHA-Mahindra stadium in Churchgate on Monday. The navymen managed to garner only a single point from their eight games in the season, and will be now relegated to play in the Senior Division next year.

Alden D’souza converted an indirect penalty corner in the 5th minute of play to give the airmen an early lead, and there was no looking back for the Dhanraj Pillay-led outfit from that point. But then the game witnessed a surprising lull, as Air-India failed to break open the floodgates.

Vikram Pillay then added to their tally by adding the second in the 33rd minute of play. Len Aiyappa, Sameer Dad and Dhanraj then added a goal each to make it five for AirIndia. Surendar Kumar scored the consolation goal for the Navy outfit.
