Green Meadows edged-out Goodwills Sports Club 1-0 through a maiden goal by Prashant Gaikwad in the Late Olympian Joe Phillips Invitational Hockey tournament at the Ammunition factory ground here on Monday.

It took nineteen minutes for the Green Meadows to strike the only goal of the match through Prashant Gaikwad as he hit the ball stopped by Rahul Zore. The Goodwills came back heavily in the second half but couldnt equalise the score.

The PCMC XI scrape past Friends Union Club 4-3 via tie-breaker to surge ahead in the tournament. It was PCMCs goalkeeper Gurdip Singh Badh, who made some brilliant saves to take the game to the tie-breakers. The Friends Union Club got under pressure straight up, when Amar Thakur missed the scoring chance by hitting it on the goalkeepers pad. Mahendra K broke the ice for the PCMC side. Muktar Shaikh, Prashant Salunke and Kamlesh R scored a goal each whereas Shakti Thakur could find the goalkeepers pad with his attempt.

Viahwajit Sable, Jitendra Gawane and Sharad Waghmare scored a goal each as PCMC won the encounter with a margin of one goal.

In another match, the Priyadarshani Sports Club (PSC) drew with Rakshak Sports Club 1-1 after the tie-breaker was postponed to next day due to bad lights. Savio DSouza scored in the 26th minute for PSC whereas Gaurav Kamble equalised in the 30th minute.n A Goodwill player leads the way during their match against Green Meadows on Tuesday —Vilas Avachat.DNA
