Thursday, May 20, 2010: Air India and Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers qualify for the summit clash of the MHA organized Mumbai Hockey Championship 2010 played at the MHA Mahidra Stadium, Churchgate, Mumbai.

Today both Central Railway and Western Railway were derailed totally in the Semi-Finals played against favorites Air India & RCF.

Fancied Air India steamrolled helpless Central Rly by a huge margins of 13-0 at breather the airmen were up by 10-0 score. The flood gates were opened in the very 1st minutes of play time a combined move by World Cupper Shivendra Singh and Olympian Sameer Dad the later scooped into the nets from close range 1-0. Thereafter the airmen went into rampage scoring spree every now and then, however after resumption airmen slowed down the pace and fired only 3 more goals otherwise the score line could have been further more scorers. Sameer Dad ( 3 goals ) Lalit Upadhya ( 2 goals ) Shivendra Singh ( 2 goals ) Mathias Minz ( 2 goals ) Amit Prabhakar, Victo Singh, Birendra Lakra, Amir Khan scored 1 each.

RCF youngsters came up with a stunning performance against champion side Western Railway. RCF amazingly were up by 2-0 in the first 10 minutes of the play time Vikram Yadav brilliantly tapped in a superb pass by Boon D’Souza at the spot ( 8th minutes ), 2 minutes later Boon D’Souza who had a extra ordinary display today robbed a dummy during a penalty corner to unleashed a short pass to Laxman Rao who just had to hit in 2-0. Thereon Western Rly could not match their younger rival RCF. After change of ends RCF kept their same momentum frustrating their Senior rivals W.Rly by manning and keeping check in their forays upfront soon RCF added the 3rd goal Boon D’Souza defence splitting pass Laxman Rao complementing by shooting in from acute angle 3-0 again 2 minutes later same fear was repeated for the 4th goal ( 4-0). Western Raialway earned 7 p.c compared to RCF 3 p.c . W.Rly failed to convert all the p.c while RCF converted 1 p.c out of 3 p.c earned.

For RCF it was a dream comes true as they qualify for the Mumbai Hockey Championship finals after 23 years. Further consolidated their efforts beating champion side Western Rly comprehensively handsome margin of 4-0.

The final will be played on Saturday, 22nd May, 2010 at 4.15 pm
