Mysore: BIG WIN FOR DYSS, BELLARY

Mysore, Aug. 26- Inspiring performances by Lakshman (4 goals) and two goals each by Ravi Nayak, Devraj, Ravikumar, P.K. Rakesh and Prasanth helped DYSS Bellary to register a big 19-0 win over Mangalore in the Andolana Cup Invitation hockey tournament for High School boys at University grounds here on Monday.

At half time the winners lead 7-0. Pramod, Santosh, Papanna, Udhay and V. Rakesh were the other scorers. In the other matches, Gulbarga registered a 3-2 win over Gadag in a keenly contested encounter. Both the teams were level 2-2 at lemon time. Ambareesh (2nd min.), Suresh (21st min.) and Prakash (47th min.) were the scorers for the winners while Mahesh (8th min.) and Rohit (26th min.) reduced the margin for the losers.

Bagalkot registered a 3-0 win over Hassan. K. Ravi (12th min.), Savan (17th min.) and Isanna (47th min.) were the goal-scorers. Best School, Bellary registered a 4-2 win over Sports school, Ponnampet in a keenly contested tie. Both the teams were level 2-2 at half-time. Mithun (6th min.) Manikanta (23rd & 45th min.) and Kashi-nath (42nd min.) were the goal scorers. Kusha (10th min.) and Bopaiah (25th min.) scored for Sports School, Ponnampet.

In the District-level tourney for College Boys section, Marimallappa’s PU College scored a 2-1 win over St. Philomena’s PU College. Anudeep (25th min.) and Darshan L. Raj (33rd min.) scored for the winners while Arjun (35th min.) scored the only goal for St. Philomena’s PU College. In another tie, Yuvaraja’s College scored a 3-1 win over NIE, Mysore. Abhilash (12th & 17th min.) and Devraj (41st min.) scored for Yuvaraja’s College while Praveen converted a Penalty corner in the 38th minute of the game to reduce the margin.

In the District-level tournament for High School Boys, Baden Powell High School scored a narrow 5-4 (via sudden-death), win over Demonstration Public School. Both the teams were level 4-4 at the end of the tie-breaker. Earlier at full time, both the teams scored 2 goals each. For Baden Powell, Nikhil, Naresh scored in the regular time and in the tie-breaker P.S. Naresh and P.S. Darshan scored. In the sudden-death P.S. Darshan converted which proved to be the winning goal. For Demonstration School, S. Nikhil scored twice in the regular time. In the tie-breaker Nandan and Niranjan scored.

De Paul International Residential School registered a 2-0 win over Farooquia HS via tie-breaker. Both the teams were logged goalless at fuIl time. In the High school girls section, Demonstration HS scored a 2-0 win over Sree Cauvery HS to enter the semi-finals. D. Nisha (2nd min.) and Sahana (45th min.) scored for the winner.

Kendriya Vidyalaya HPS scored a 2-0 win over JSS Public School to enter the semi-finals in the HPS boys section. Both the teams were level 0-0 at full time. Abhishek and Aditya scored the two goals for Kendriya Vidyalaya.
