HOCKEY GROUNDS IN CHAMUNDI VIHAR STADIUM DAMAGED
Mysore, Dec. 3-The hockey grounds at the Chamundi Vihar Stadium in city which comes under the control of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Government of Karnataka, had been rented out for a wedding for a couple of days and the same has been damaged by the users.
The Sports Hostel girls, who are in the Chamundi Vihar Sports Complex, practice hockey daily in the grounds and they are deprived of the practice facility due to the renting of the grounds for weddings.
The Department recently spent a lot of money for making the ground fit for play during the Dasara games and now they have rented out the grounds which has been damaged to a great extent and has been made unfit for playing the game.
The grounds during the usage for the wedding have been dug up in different places and is in a bad condition. Sports infrastructure already created has been damaged and the authorities concerned just for earning money have sacrificed sporting infrastructure.
When SOM contacted District Sports Officer Ramesh, he confirmed giving the grounds for rent for a wedding and expressed regret over the happenings and said that as they have obtained caution money they will get the ground repaired from the same party.
