Bhartia, Anugrah in QF

Nagpur: Bhartia Aqua and Anugrah Sporting scored comfortable victories against Cosmos Sporting Club and Andhra Telugu Sporting Club respectively to enter into the quarterfinals of the ‘B’ Division Vidarbha Hockey League tournament at the Hislop College ground here on Tuesday.

Bhartia Aqua were well served by Nitin Dubey who struck twice to fashion his team’s 4-0 victory. Inform striker Bosco Anthony drew the first blood for Bhartia Aqua in the 12th minute while Rohan Joseph doubled the lead in the 27th minute as the winners led 2-0 at lemon time.

After the change of ends, skipper Nitin Dubey swung into action scoring two goals within four minutes to ensure a last eight berth for Bhartia Aqua. In the 55th minute Nitin made good use of Anthony’s pass, fed from the right, to score his first goal from the centre. Then scored his second goal in the 58th minute off a solo effort as he dribbled the ball past two Cosmos defenders before sounding the board to complete the tally.

In another match of the day, Anugrah Sporting outclassed Andhra Telugu Sporting Club 5-0 to qualify into the last eight. Aspak Asani opened the account for the winners with his quickfire hit in the 4th minute.

In the 10th and 12th minutes Ronald Pillai and Virendra Iyer joined the list of scorers to make it 3-0 before Rahul Karosiya added another goal to in the 18th minute to make it 4-0 at the half-time.

After the change of ends, Rahul hit the final nail in the 35th minute by scoring his second goal of the match.

On Wednesday, Vidarbha Blues will face Andhra Telugu at 2 pm while Chhota Nagpur will lock horns with Central Railway Institute Ajni at 3 pm.
