Thumping victories for VT Convent, SFS

Nagpur: Vimaltai Tidke Convent and Saint Francis de Sales School blanked their rivals Jaibai School (7-0) and RBGG School (5-0) respectively in the Under-14 Inter-school VHA Hockey League played at the Hislop College ground on Tuesday.

Robin Durge and Naman Nagrare, playing in the forward line, put up a fine show as Vimaltai Tidke Convent made their intentions clear with a thumping 7-0 victory over Jaibai School. Robin slammed three goals while skipper Naman accounted for a brace.

Leading from the front Naman drew the first blood in the 13th minute. Robin followed it up with beautiful move and made it 2-0 in the 19th minute.

Three minutes later it was Abhishek Thakur, who made good use of the fourth penalty corner awarded to Vimaltai Tidke Convent, to raise the scores further. Two quick goals in four minutes by Robin (25th and 28th) stretched the lead further to 5-0.

In the 31st minute Naman completed his brace when he dribbled the ball past a defender and sounded the board from centre. Nilesh Jalan completed the rout by converting their last penalty corner in the 37th minute.

In another one-sided match,Oscar Simon’s double strike helped SFS School drub RBGG High School 5-0. An aggressive first half play gave winners a handy four goal lead.

An attacking move from the left flank by Alfiez Abdul gave SFS lead in 5th minute. Simon doubled the scores a minute later. He achieved his brace in the 15th minute to stretch the lead further to 3-0. Shubham Ramteke (17th) and Savio Cruze (28th) were the other goal scorers.

Earlier, Ramesh Chandak English School after losing their opening battle found the groove defeating St John’s School 2-1. With Siddhesh Sathe opening the account with his 5th minute strike and Tejas Batra doubling the scores in the 18th minute. Ramesh Chandak School led 2-0 at the breather.

After the change of ends, Somesh Bamdekar of St Jhon’s was able to reach rivals citadel and scored a consolation goal in the 42nd minute.

In another encounter Jingle Bell High School held Railway Janmandal School to a goalless draw.
